Śā kyamuni is depicted in three-quarter profile sitting leisurely on grass. Clad in monastic robes, he is surrounded by a halo and a mandorla and holds an alms bowl in his hand. A monk and a Bodhisattva show their veneration with offerings towards him in the front. Two scenes on the left side are integrated into a stylized landscape and recall events from his youth long before his renunciation. Prince Siddhārtha is shown hurling a wild elephant that was running amok in the city. The scene in the bottom part depicts the archery contests in which Siddhārtha shot the arrow straight through all the iron drums. Tibetan inscriptions describe the scene.
